Application of Physics in Financial Analysis 3

(5 - 7 December 2001 , London , Great Britain)

From 5 to 7 of December, 2001 in London (Great Britain) there took place the 3d International Conference "Application of Physics in Financial Analysis ". It was held in Museum of London, and it was arranged by European Physical Society. Two previous conferences on the same subject took lace in 2000 in Liege (Belgium) and in 1999 in Dublin (Ireland).

The Conference aimed to consolidate participants of the financial market and investigators, who work at the analysis of financial markets, applying ideas and methods of physical sciences to finances. Basic scientific trends of the conference were: financial market analysis, market dynamics, market prices prognosis, and risk management.

About a hundred of scientists and financiers from all over the world took part in the conference (although most of them represented Europe). A quarter of them delivered oral reports, while a half - presented stand reports (posters). In the total the conferences considered a wide range of urgent scientific and practical problems:

To solve all mentioned economic problems the participants offered to use various sectors of physics: non-equilibrium dynamics, physical kinetics, classical and quantum theory of the field, statistical physics, non-linear optics, solid state physics.

The International A.Bogdanov Institute presented a stand report: Å. V.Shipitsyn, V.V.Popkov, D.B.Berg, "Financial Market Analysis in the Frame of t - J Model of Solid State Physics ". Participation of the Institute in the Conference was partially supported by the Grant of Russian Scientific Humanitarian Fund.
