Alexander Chumakov

Was born in Severnoye village, Astrakhansk Oblast on 01 October, 1950. In 1981 graduated from the Moscow State University, Department of Philosophy, post-graduate studentship in the same place. At present time Alexander Chumakov, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor is First Vice-President of Russian Philosophic Society, Chief scientific advisor in the Institute of Philosophy of Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor in the Moscow State Academy of Law, a member of the Presidium of Russian Ecological Academy (1994), one of the main organizers of first Russian Philosophic Congresses. He participated in XVIII, XIX, and ХХ World Philosophic Congresses, where he delivered scientific reports (Briton, 1988; Moscow, 1993; Boston 1998). He was one of main organizers and deputy Chairman of Organizational Committees of the First and Second Russian Philosophic Congresses ("Man, Philosophy, Humanism" - St.-Petersburg, 1997; "XXI century: Future of Russia in philosophic measuring" - Ekaterinburg, 1999). At present time, being the First Vice-President of Russian Philosophic Society, he carries out principal organizational work on the preparation of the Third Russian Philosophic Congress, which is to be held in 2002 in Rostov-na-Donu.

A.Chumakov was a guide of the round table "Philsohy and Global problems" at the First Russian Philosophic Congress (St.-Petersburg, 1997), and the Chairman of the section "Development of civilizations: turning point and search of new values" - at the Second RPhC (in Ekaterinburg).

Being editor-in-chief of the magazine "Herald of Russian Philosophic Society", an authorized editor and a member of editorial boards of a number of books and periodicals. A.Chumakov in his works analyzes the formation problems of and open democratic society (in particular, conformably to Russia), formulates and grounds globalistics as a special sphere of scientific, philosophic, and culturological research, aimed to solve modern global contradictions in theory and practice. He reveals basic problems and categories, that form philosophic basis of globalistics as a specific branch of Philosophy (establishing criteria of globality, classification of global problems, dynamics of social activities and practice, affected by these problems; "global problem", "global dependency", "ecological crisis" and so on).
